01 / About

A neighbourhood tuition centre that does the ordinary things well.

Founded by two teachers who wanted smaller classes and honest feedback for parents.

Bright Banyan started in 2011 above a stationery shop on 12th Main, Indiranagar, when Meera Iyer and Rohan Nair left larger coaching factories to teach the way they actually believed in: small batches, real marking, and a straight word with parents when something wasn't working. The old banyan tree on the corner gave us our name, and a fair bit of shade on hot afternoons.

Fourteen years on, we are still on the same lane, now across two floors. We coach students from Class 6 through Class 12 on the CBSE, ICSE and Karnataka state syllabi, and we run tightly-planned prep for board exams and common entrance tests. We deliberately keep batches under twelve students. It is less profitable and far better teaching, and after all this time we are not about to change it.

Most of our families come by word of mouth from around Indiranagar, HAL, Domlur and CV Raman Nagar, and increasingly through our online batches from Chennai, Hyderabad, Colombo and Dhaka. Whether a child is sitting in Room 2 or joining from a laptop, the same tutor marks their work and the same monthly note goes home to a parent. We think that consistency is the whole job.

03 / Subjects

What we teach, and who teaches it.

Every subject is held by a named tutor who stays with your child's batch for the whole year.

Mathematics

From middle-school arithmetic to Class 12 calculus, worked slowly on the board and then in graded problem sets marked by hand.

Biology

Diagram-heavy teaching with real lab context, aligned to CBSE and ICSE for Classes 9 through 12 and NEET foundation work.

Physics

Concept first, numericals second. We spend the time to make the idea land before the formula, then drill past-paper problems.

Chemistry

Organic, inorganic and physical chemistry taught with clear reaction maps and the periodic logic students actually remember.

English

Reading comprehension, structured essay writing and grammar, plus spoken practice for students who need the confidence.

Hindi & Kannada

Second-language coaching for the board syllabus, with steady vocabulary building and past-paper writing practice.

04 / How it works

Four steps, no surprises.

The same path for every family, whether you walk in or join online.

1

Free assessment

A short, unpressured sit-down where a tutor works out where your child actually stands. No fee, no obligation.

2

A plan on paper

We map the term, the batch, the subjects and the fees clearly, so you know exactly what you are enrolling into.

3

Steady teaching

Small batches, fortnightly graded tests, and handwritten marking that shows a student where the marks went.

4

Monthly notes home

A plain progress note to parents every month. If something is slipping, you hear it from us first, not at the exam.

05 / Faculty

The people at the board.

Between them, over sixty years of teaching the Bangalore boards.

Meera Iyer

Co-founder · Mathematics

Twenty-two years teaching maths across CBSE and state boards. Believes any student can be taught the subject if the pace is right.

Rohan Nair

Co-founder · Physics

An engineer turned teacher who runs the senior science batches. Known for making the idea land before the formula.

Anjali Rao

Chemistry & Biology

Handles the Class 11 and 12 science batches and the NEET foundation work. Patient with the students who arrive scared of the subject.

Suresh Kamath

English & Languages

Runs the English, Hindi and Kannada coaching. Marks essays line by line and expects a redraft, which the students grumble about and then thank him for.

06 / Word of mouth

What parents tell us.

Mostly relayed at the gate in the evening, occasionally in writing.

"My son went from dreading maths to actually explaining it to his cousins. Meera never let him coast, and the monthly note meant I always knew where he stood."
Lakshmi PrasadParent · 3 months ago
"We join the online batch from Colombo. I was sceptical it would work over a screen, but the tutor still marks her papers by hand and posts them back photographed. It genuinely feels like a proper class."
Nuwan FernandoParent · 6 weeks ago
"Straight talk and no false promises. When my daughter's chemistry was slipping, Anjali told me plainly and put in an extra one-to-one hour. That honesty is why we stayed two years."
